Transforming Lives

Hello! My name is Anna Adamavich. I am currently a junior at North High School and I am also one of this year's Innovator Fellows. Outside of school, I love playing volleyball, working at Blackwolf Run, and spending time with friends and family.

Throughout my life, I have always been passionate about fighting for women’s equality. This passion started from a very young age, from being a little girl with big dreams. From wanting to be a pop star, princess, or even president, I grew up with the idea that the sky was the limit. However, as I got older I found out that the world wasn’t as kind as I once thought. I saw the important women in my life get mistreated, and it didn’t stop there. As I grew into my teenage years, I began to have a completely different outlook on life. I was silenced, overlooked, belittled, and seen as just another body. All because I was a woman. That didn’t sit right with me, and I knew I had to make a change. Not just for me, but for the young women that came after me. Through IF, I want the next generation of girls to not grow up in this type of environment. Through this program, I want to prove that women are more than what society paints them to be. We are more than just a body, we have hearts, and minds, as well as a soul, and emotions. I want them to be proud that they are women, and are just as equal to any man they encounter in their life. I think that if little me could see where I am now, she would be very proud of me, for fighting for the girl with big dreams who just wanted to be a princess when she grew up.
